'STILL' the November Exhibition in the Window at fifty seven

Art@57 is celebrating its first anniversary with the return of an exhibition of work by its Curator –  local Artist Louise Ward.

Louise was originally trained as a Sculptor at Camberwell School of Art, but quickly moved to Fine Art Photography, which she studied part time at Central School of Art.  Louise has extensive experience of Art in Education and Community Consultation through Art, having worked for several local Councils, Arts Organisations and Galleries. She is also a qualified teacher and Lead Practitioner.

Louise lives in East Dulwich and works in her garden studio, which some people may have visited during the annual Artists Open House Event in May. Over the past few years she has been exploring the genre of Still Life Painting using examples of 17th Century Dutch and Spanish Painting as a starting point. She can often be found scrutinising art works at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. In the window of fifty seven in November, you will be able to see a selection of her Still Life images of food , flowers and the micro world of insects and other small creatures hidden amongst them.  These images look like paintings, but are in fact photographs. The relationship between painting and photography is one of the things that Louise constantly explores. The exhibition includes a selection of limited edition prints on archival paper, and works on wood and copper.

More of Louise’s work and the work of several Artists who have exhibited in the window of fifty seven over the last year, will be available at the Fine Art Fair at no 57on Saturday 30th November from 9.30 am – 4.30pm.
