Art@57 - January 2020

Art@ 57 Exhibitions are kicking off  the New Year with a stunning show of black and white linocut prints by local Artist Andrew Carter.

Andrew lives in East Dulwich. He studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins’ and achieved an Master of Art in Printmaking at Camberwell School of Art. He has taught Art for many years alongside developing his own practice as an artist. Andrew has exhibited his work in many group and solo exhibitions over the years and has had prints exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition six times. His work is held in private and public collections including the V&A and British Museum.

The linocuts in this exhibition are made from direct observation of things and places that have personal associations.  Andrew has been developing this series over a number of years, looking at fragments, trees, water, reflections and patterns. The process of creating a print is one of refinement over a period of time.

The framed prints in this series are in the window until the end of February. They are the Artists’ Proof Prints. Artists’ proof prints are traditionally made during printing in order  to assess the quality of the print at the final stages of the process. They are generally considered to be worth more than copies of the edition of the prints.

The un-cropped editions of the prints are also available unframed.

Editions are in 20s.
