Art@57 Exhibitions presents 'Paintings' by Julia Burnett & Greg Becker

Our June Exhibition in the window of 57 is a display of wonderful landscape paintings by East Dulwich Artists Julia Burnett and Greg Becker. Whilst they are both interested in place, Julia’s paintings are inspired by the space and light of the countryside and Greg’s are a celebration of the green spaces closer to home.

Greg is a graduate of the Royal College of Art. He worked for many years as an illustrator for leading newspapers and  publishing houses while continuing to develop his interest in painting. He now paints full time. In this exhibition he presents his views of local places such as Peckham Rye and Dulwich Parks.

Julia’swork is rooted in the tradition of landscape painting too, but it is the sense of place that interests her most. The paintings are inspired by how the light, colour, weather and changing skies create the experience of a moment in the landscape which becomes imprinted on her memory. She makes studies done in situ and from memory which she then uses to work from in her East Dulwich studio.

Julia says  ‘as the paintings evolve they take on a life of their own. I become more involved in the physicality of the paint and the actual act of painting and the exploration of the medium.’

For this exhibition Julia presents several of her landscape paintings which express the sense of space and light that are often experienced in the English countryside.

The exhibition will be in the window for a month. All the paintings are for sale.
