Our featured artist for March is Diana McKinnon.

Diana is a Textile Artist working in free motion embroidery. Originally a teacher, she has continued to develop her own skills in ceramics and creative embroidery. She is a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and has exhibited throughout the UK including at the mall Galleries and Chelsea College of Art. One of her major inspirations is the work of the Impressionists, which is reflected in the colour, light and tactile qualities of her vibrant embroidered landscapes.

Diana focuses on the way that the light changes the landscape from season to season. She translates this into the textures, colours and details of her pictures by carefully layering sheer fabrics and silk papers, building them up with machine embroidery. Edges of silk paper fall free of the stitched pictures to suggest infinity.
