Afternoon Tea Week 14th - 20th August 2018

It’s got to be said that Afternoon Tea is my outing of choice. You can often find me indulging in my favourite pastime at the Langham, Savoy or even, at a push, Fortnums. I just love it.

Slowly working your way up from the delightful finger sandwiches with their obligatory fillings of Egg Mayonnaise, Smoked Salmon or Cucumber and now of course, the addition of small finger rolls filled with Coronation Chicken. Then taking on board the middle tier of scones. Be they plain or raisin, I’m not fussed as long as salted butter is an option. I’m not a huge fan of clotted cream – before or after jam! And finally, the pièce de résistance, the top tier of frivolous fancies – all in miniature and of which there never seems to be enough, the prettiest little sweet treats that always seem to include macarons, a variation of lemon meringue and right now, in the middle of summer, a berry tartlet or two!

Earlier this year we partnered with Crown Jules and hosted an Afternoon Tea with a hat making master class at our venue, fifty seven, where all of our lovely guests made their fabulous fascinators and wore them to tea during London Fashion Week. It was a hoot.

If you are looking to host a hen party, or just gather a group of friends for a brilliant afternoon out then we would love to hear from you. Minimum numbers are 8 and we can go up to 24.

I could give you my own recipe, but to be honest, you can’t do much better than Delia, so I suggest this one from “St Delia”!
