A Winters Tale

We had a regular client call us late last week asking if we could fit in a lunch for them this week. It’s was for the company Vice President who was visiting from the States to open a new part of their building and there was much excitement within the company about his visit.

Having already closed December at that point but knowing how important this event was, the chefs and I confirmed we were able to come in early and get both lunches cooked from scratch for them.

Inspired by my recent annual Olive Oil Harvest Trip with Filippo Berio, I was full of Tuscan inspiration and the menu certainly had an Italian feel to it; Fillet of Beef topped with a White Truffle Oil and Parmesan and Madagascan Prawns with Lemon, EV Filippo Berio Olive Oil and Dill.  Deserts included Fig, BlackBerry and Pistachio Tarts, Lemon Polenta Cakes with Creme Fraiche and Blueberry Compote and St Clements Possets in Vintage China Cups with Shortbread.

The styling brief was quite specific – Winter but not a Christmas theme!  Usually that’s easy but in the middle of December, there are not too many places selling anything but Christmas Trees so I headed over to Forest in East Dulwich where I managed to pick up some fabulous props for the buffet table and then on to my favourite,Roullier White, for some stunning serving platters – one can never have enough of these in my opinion!

Just one more stop to make, I hit the road and headed over to the Nunhead Gardener to grab a stunning Bonsai Tree, Christmas Cactus and White Cyclamen.

Phew, now I had enough props to use alongside my vintage cookery books in order to build the most stunning buffet point! With food stacked safety in the truck, I headed into the West End.  Lunch delivered, buffet set up, job done!

One very happy client judging by the feedback:

“Thank you so much for your help this week with the lunch for our executives and US team. We have received nothing but praise and it’s all down to your exceptional talent (I started to shine my halo at this point).  I appreciated you squeezing us in when the requests came in last minute, knowing you were already so busy.   You listened carefully to our requirements and delivered above all standards!”

Take a look at the photos below and please remember that if you are looking for a catering service that really listens and cares for their clients then we are the ones to contact!
