We have a real passion for food and all things culinary, as you may have guessed! However, where our food comes from and how it reaches your plate is just as important to us as what it tastes like. Our motto is “SOS Great Britain” a reminder that we use only the finest Seasonal, Organic and Sustainable Great British ingredients to create our menus whenever possible.

Eating seasonally makes it easier to source local produce. Our butcher only supplies us with British meat, sourced as close to home as possible – often from Kent or East Sussex. We also use free range British eggs and locally sourced fruit and vegetables whenever we can. This approach means less energy is needed to grow and transport the food we cook with, plus it is more economical than sourcing food that is scarcer or has to travel great distances. Most important of all it means we are providing our clients with the freshest of ingredients when they are at their very best, and quite literally bursting with flavour!

We want to share our expertise in order to help everyone to eat seasonally. So each month we write a food column, complete with recipe for a local magazine. We list the same recipes here on our website.

We have carefully selected many of our fabulous wines based on their organic status. We give preference to suppliers who use agricultural methods that reflect our own ethical and sustainable goals. One of our wines comes from Meopham Valley whose vineyard is just 24 miles from our professional kitchen, a truly local British wine!

‘Location, Location, Location’ As an ethical business we like to keep it local, so we use homegrown suppliers who are on our doorstep and who we know love their produce just as much as we love cooking with it! We want to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum, which means that a supplier’s location is just as important to us as the product and service they are supplying. Our butcher, fishmonger, bread maker, and even our florist and IT support are all based within a 3 to 4 mile radius. An unexpected benefit to this approach is that we have a fantastic relationship with our suppliers and consider them to be friends as well as business associates!

We believe in supporting small, independent, local businesses like ourselves, so each month we feature one of our suppliers in our newsletter under the banner ‘Keep it Local’. We also invite our suppliers to showcase their business through the East Dulwich Supper Club.

Each year we review our list of existing suppliers and consider any new applicants. We always request a copy of their environmental policy and once again preference is given to those with a similar approach to our own.
