Back to the Future!

Sue has been working for herself for many years now, over 20 in fact and along the way she has met some incredible people, worked in many incredibly special places and been given unbelievable opportunities. Nothing brought this home to her more than working at the Museum of the Order of St John for Charterhouse Development Capital last night. They were her very first client when she was a private cook in the 90’s and last night they booked one of her favourite venues to host their AGM! Here is Suzanne’s account of a very special evening……

“Seeing so many familiar faces, and old friends, away from their office was quite strange, but as always they came to the kitchen for a chat; we talked about our children, our partners, how we are all getting older and absent friends. Not many people know this, but my first child was born in 1999 and he is now an apprentice chef with us. Both Ollie and I were at the event last night, and the poor soul was so embarrassed when some of the guests remembered me being pregnant with him at an event many years ago!

The evening opened with champagne and a tour of the museum with the Director. This is possibly one of the most fascinating and engaging talks you will find in any museum throughout London, if not the world. Guests then enjoyed Canapés from our bespoke range, including the much loved Quails Egg Benedict Royale, Hand Dived Scallops with Coriander Butter and Pancetta and the age old favourite of Pecorino Sables, Goats Cheese, Oven Roasted Cherry Tomatoes and Basil Pesto – which we have never been allowed to take off the menu! Sweet Canapés included Mango and Passionfruit Cheesecakes and Salted Caramel Chocolate Tartlets. Always winners!

It is evenings like this that really do allow me to appreciate what’s great about this industry and how I have served it as well as it has served me! It was a lovely evening from my side – and theirs too I was told!”
